Global Musics During the Jazz and Pop open evening, you can also enjoy live performances from the newly updated (as of 2025) Global Musics programme: from tango to Caribbean and South American music, plus a performance by an Anatolian ensemble. There will also be a short introduction to Global Musics given by the head of the department and the coordinators. Curious about a specific musical style? The RASL Dual Degree allows you to combine, in a five year programme, a bachelor at Codarts with a bachelor at Erasmus University (either International Bachelor of Arts and Culture Studies , Erasmus University College , or Erasmus School of Philosophy ). Around thirty dancers from all over the world present a unique programme. Their youthful versatility comes to life in beautiful solos, duets and ensemble pieces — featuring both existing repertoire by renowned international choreographers and new works by emerging choreographic talents. Many of these new pieces have been created especially for the Codarts dancers and this tour. Holland Dance Festival and Codarts Rotterdam are proud to offer young top talent both a national and international stage. Through Talent On The Move , the dancers gain essential stage experience — and they do so with passion and dedication. The result is an infectious, heart-warming performance that seems to radiate endless energy!

Opus 111 follows the tradition of new music ensembles such as London Sinfonietta, Asko|Schönberg, and Ensemble Modern – ensembles made up entirely of soloists. With this project, we continue a fantastic collaboration with the DoelenEnsemble, one of the most renowned contemporary music ensembles in the Netherlands. Jurjen Hempel will be the guest conductor for this project. As a special feature, at least two of the works performed during the project – selected by both an internal and external jury – will later be included in the DoelenEnsemble’s concert season and premiered as part of their programme. The participating composers are Simone Farò, Dimitris Kollias, Deniz Tuna, Anan Alkadamani, Miguel Alvarez, Marco Cordioli, and Manish Lama.

Under the direction of violinist and conductor Johannes Leertouwer, a specialist in 19th-century performance practice, the Codarts Symphony Orchestra performs two masterpieces from that era: Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture and Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony. During this project, the musicians will explore the historical performance style of the 19th century.
The online information session offers a first impression of the three-year Master of Arts Therapies at Codarts. Programme leaders Carola van ’t Hof (Music Therapy) and Simone Kleinlooh (Dance Movement Therapy) will introduce the programme and provide an overview of the specialisations Music Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy. > Home > Education > Bachelors > Jazz > Admission Admission requirements Piano Admission Requirements Piano The applicant presents a performance by playing 2 to 3 improvised pieces from the jazz repertoire (American song book) and various technical and/or classical pieces. This performance needs to contain both solo performance and trio performance. Optionally the applicant may choose to perform one composition by the applicant. By doing so: The applicant demonstrates a talent for - and affinity with - the jazz piano practice in terms of repertoire (e.g. jazz standards and originals by key players and composers) and styles - both traditional (blues, swing, bebop, hard bop), contemporary (e.g. free jazz, jazz rock, fusion, odd meter) and world music informed jazz practices (e.g. Brazilian, Cuban, Indian. Middle Eastern). The applicant shows the ability to sight-read a simple theme (two hands, melody with chord symbols) The applicant convincingly demonstrates knowledge and skill of/in jazz practice and the ability to apply these creatively in improvisation in various contexts. The applicant is able to play simple chord combinations and express their knowledge of the 'basic' jazz voicings and their application on the basis of chord symbols. The applicant demonstrates a strong connection to the instrument (the piano) by presenting: Major and minor scales and broken chords Etudes: choose from C. Czerny, Die Schule der Geläufigkeit op.299 (Leipzig s.a., Peters Verlag) or etudes of an equivalent grade Polyphony: play a two-part invention by J.S. Bach or another work
