Having a vision on who you are, where you want to go, how you will get there and a good motivation for choosing this study programme is something that’s taken into account. A part of the audition consists of performing three of your own songs live, preferably recently written ones. You can either do this solo or with a band. During your audition it’s very important to demonstrate your creativity so half an hour before your exam you’ll be given a songwriting assignment, which consists of a chord scheme and a lyrical subject. You’ll have 30 minutes to create a melody for a verse, pre-chorus and a chorus and to write a matching lyric and present it during your audition. Having a vision on who you are, where you want to go, how you will get there and a good motivation for choosing this study programme is something that’s taken into account. A part of the audition consists of presenting three of your own productions, preferably recently produced & written ones. During your audition it’s very important to demonstrate your creativity. An hour before your exam you’ll be given a production assignment in the form of audio and midi files. You’ll have an hour to mix given files and to add your own magic to it. You will present the result during your audition. It does not have to be a very demanding etude in terms of speed or range, but play it musically with good sound and intonation and with a clear attack Play 3 tunes (in different tempo's and different tonalities) from the traditional jazz repertoire (theme + improvisation) and bring charts for the rhythm section in case you will play less generally known tunes. An original composition by yourself is very welcome, in that case please bring clearly written charts for the rhythm section or bring a recording of you playing your own composition.Alternate different rhythms with short solos and breaks The committee will ask you to sightread a chart during the audition, and to improvise by ear on some chord progressions The applicant is able to convincingly explain the focus of the applicants research topic/project and the connection and relevance to both the trumpet, the craft and the jazz practice.

Possessing a vision (on who you are, where you want to go, how will you get there?) is highly valued as well. Furthermore, a good motivation for choosing this study programme will also be appreciated. For your audition you’ll have to prepare 3 songs; preferably three recent ones of your own, but if you choose to do one or more covers, make sure to make them your ‘own’! We’re not looking for copycats! Playing with your own band is preferred. We will also check your vocal range for different sound colours and your harmony skills: are you able to harmonize a certain melody on the spot? At least 2, at most 3 films*, film sequences or film scenes, with music which was written for various settings/ensembles, accompanied by the related sound files (live recorded or midi versions) as Vimeo or YouTube links (downloads not accepted). Where possible please attach the related sheet music (as PDF). *: or any other visual format. 2. A study plan, including your research topic (see the form to be completed). 3. A motivation letter in PDF of a maximum of 2 A4 pages, in which you explain why you want to do the Master Screen Scoring at Codarts. 4. The applicant is able to convincingly explain the focus of his/her research topic/project and the connection and relevance to both the keys, the craft and the pop practice.

Candidate must have a clear picture of her or his possibilities, ambitions and flaws in order to reflect on how the development into a professional singer/musician will benefit from the master program at Codarts. Candidates will present three songs in different styles. Jazz repertoire in its broadest form is a plus but not mandatory. It will give us a clearer view though. There should be at least one improvisation in the performance. The research topic(s) should be connected to the shown repertoire as far as possible.
