Hans studied organ with Andre Verwoerd and church music with Barend Schuurman. From 1994 until his retirement in 2016, he taught Liturgics as part of the Church Music programme at Codarts. On Thursday 17 November, the Codarts Big Band will be giving a lively lunch concert at WMDC. Led by young, talented musicians, this energetic orchestra will be performing a varied programme full of groove, improvisation and sparkling brass. A perfect musical break in the middle of the day!
Every first Wednesday of the month, the Global Café Series takes place at Café Grounds (WMDC). The World Music department was established in the late 1980s by Jan Laurens Hartong and Joep Bor, making Codarts the first conservatoire in the Netherlands to concentrate on musical traditions from various parts of the world. This pioneering effort set a new standard, and over the years, Codarts has distinguished itself internationally through this department. Since 2019 he has been Principal Guest of the Residentie Orkest and Artistic Partner of the St Paul Chamber.
