Admission requirements Cello

Generally

  • Suifficent affinity with the instrument and its repertoire
  • Sufficient possibilities for developments
  • Show of sufficient drive to study and enthusiasm for music and instrument

 

Cello

  • An étude or Caprice of your choice, for example from Popper études, Duport études, Franchomme, dall'Abaco, 
  • A movement from a solo concerto of your choice (Haydn C, Boccherini, Saint-Saëns, Elgar, Romberg, Davidoff etc) 
  • A pieve for cello and piano of your choice (e.g. Fauré, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Davidoff, Dvorak, Popper, etc etc) 

  

Directions of program per year for Bachelor cello students

  • 1 Bach suite per year from I-III 
  • 1 Boccherini sonata 
  • 5 etudes from Dupport/Popper 
  • 3 caprices from dall'Abaco/Moja/Franchomme/Piatti 
  • 1 short study concert and 1 short solo concert or 
  • 1 major study/solo concert 
  • 1 sonata 
  • 1 virtuoso recital with piano (by Goens/Popper/Fitzenhagen/Klengel etc) 
  • 1 late 20th century or early 21st century piece 
     

Bachelor's exam requirements 
A and B must be represented at the exam and pieces from at least three different periods must be played: 
 

A

  • Baroque 
  • Classic 
  • Romance 
  • Fin de siècle to 1940 

  

B 

  • Second half of the 20th century 
  • First half of the 21st century
