PINK HORIZONS -between collapse and care- In this contemporary circus performance, Bauhaus serves as both inspiration and point of departure. Pink Horizons explores how creation can emerge from crisis, and how colour and form function as powerful statements rather than mere decoration. Through collective structures and moments of playful disruption, a dynamic composition unfolds in which destruction and care continuously alternate. Fresh Talent Meets New Sound The Brand New Jazz Festival acts as students’ creative platform. Having spent months working within their bands, students prepare to demonstrate their original compositions by connection to and through their instruments. At Codarts, jazz isn’t just learned — it’s explored through experimentation. A Night of the Unexpected Layers of electronic textures? Bebop tradition? A cinematic soundscape? At the Brand New Jazz Festival, Jazz is just the starting point. Students present a modern and experimental interpretation of the genre with unexpected fusions and redefined standards. The Brand New Jazz Festival provides a creative platform for up-and-coming talent. Following months of intensive rehearsals, these Jazz students are ready to showcase their original music; here, they don't just learn jazz from books, but discover it through hands-on experimentation. Visitors can expect an evening full of surprises where everything starts with jazz but evolves into something entirely new: from electronic sounds and cinematic compositions to the innovative blending of diverse styles. This festival is open to everyone who loves music or simply wishes to be inspired by the artists of the future, who may well soon be gracing the main stages of the North Sea Jazz Festival. The programme showcased a wide range of circus disciplines, including aerial, acrobatics, juggling, tightrope walking and object manipulation. Each act was conceived and created entirely by the students, offering a unique artistic perspective on themes such as identity, connection, transformation and imagination. Technical precision, creativity and personal storytelling came together in a diverse series of performances. Take Off is the annual graduation programme of Codarts Circus Arts, providing students with the opportunity to present their work to audiences, fellow students, tutors and professionals from across the industry. The performances mark not only the completion of the bachelor's programme, but also the beginning of each artist's professional career in contemporary circus. With Take Off #17, a new generation of circus artists demonstrated how artistic research, physical virtuosity and personal expression can come together. Mieke de Vos is a versatile director with extensive experience in the field of development of organisations and change management. She has extensive knowledge of strategy, operations and stakeholder management. Until 1 May, Mieke was Director of Administrative and Organisational Affairs of the Dutch Media Authority. Before that, she was Director of General Affairs at law firm Allen & Overy Amsterdam. Mieke is known as communicative, energetic, decisive and accessible. Prior to the Supervisory Board's appointment of Mieke de Vos, several interviews were conducted with college president Renate Eringa, the Executive Board team, consisting of Alex von Balluseck (head of Administrative Affairs), Denise Reijenga (head of Educational Affairs), Jack de Dreu (head of Operations), Jannie Visser (head of HR) and Janine Stubbe (head of Research), and the Participation Council. All the members have given positive approval to Mieke's appointment. The Supervisory Board is delighted to appoint Mieke de Vos. With her extensive experience in (international) business management and passion for the arts, Mieke de Vos, together with Renate Eringa, will form the solid board the organisation needs. "I am looking forward to new collaborations and, as a member of the Executive Board, I would like to make a positive contribution to education and operations," said Mieke de Vos.
