Iedere opleiding binnen Codarts heeft zijn eigen toelatingsprocedure met bijbehorende selectiecriteria en aanvullende eisen (auditie).

Om te worden toegelaten tot de bacheloropleiding Dans bij Codarts moet de verplichte auditie zijn behaald.
Voor het studiejaar 2026-2027 is de aanmelding geopend vanaf 1 oktober 2025. De algemene aanmelddeadline is 9 februari 2026.

Where can I find information about auditioning for the bachelor Dance Performer?
Our up-to-date audition information can be found on our ‘Dance page’ and by clicking on the country/city you would like to audition at. This information entails where and when, the criteria and requirements.

Where can I audition and from which date on can I apply?
Registration for all auditions is opened from October 1, 2025. The application deadline is February 9, 2026. Specifics of the deadline can be found on our ‘Dance page’ at each location. Please note that the workshops are optional and not obliged for participating in the auditions.
The auditions and workshops for the year of study 2026-2027 are held live in the following countries:
- France, Marseille: 28 February & 1 March 2026 (workshop & audition)
- Spain, Barcelona : 7 & 8 March 2026 (workshop & audition)
- Portugal, Porto: 14 & 15 March 2026 (workshop & audition)
- The Netherlands, Rotterdam: 23-26 March 2026 (audition)
- Italy, Livorno: 4, 5, 6 April 2026 (workshop & audition)

How do I apply/register for an audition/workshop?
Registration for the auditions differs per location.
- Rotterdam, Marseille and Barcelona: you will have to subscribe via Studielink.
- Porto and Livorno: you must subscribe via our partners.

How many people audition and are accepted each year?
Each year we receive hundreds of applicants (usually 800+, there is no limit). From this big group we accept around thirty dancers each year

I come from outside an European continent country, how do I audition?
For candidates coming from countries outside the European continent, we have a different procedure. You can apply for a pre-selection audition via video. After the pre-selection, you will be informed whether you have to come by for a live final audition. Deadline for the pre-selection video audition is January 30, 2026. Please click on the ‘Online pre-selection’ link on our dance page.

What experience is required for application?
Several years of intermediate dance training is a plus. Pre-education in dance is highly recommended, but not obliged and it does not give you priority. Every person is accepted or denied based on the audition.

For which year can I audition?
Automatically you audition for the first year out of a four-year bachelor programme. In some cases, the audition committee can decide that a candidate is eligible for the second year. The decision of admitting you into a higher year can exclusively be made by the audition committee based on your shown level during the audition, not based on your previous education. If you wish to audition for the 2nd year only, then please indicate this in a remark in your application to inform the audition committee.

Where do Codarts Dance alumni work?
Codarts alumni are mostly contracted by dance companies around the world but also work as freelancers. This is a choice that each graduate makes according to their interests. A list of employers, also for internships, can be found on our webpage and in our study guide.

Do you have an open day?
No, but please follow our Instagram account for updates on our Digital Open Week (see our website for more information).

Do you have scholarships/grants?
There are scholarships and grants. For non-Europeans, you can apply for a grant. For Europeans, you can apply for a student loan in your own country.
Information about scholarships and grants can be found under ‘Practical matters’. The criteria are based on your entrance exam (audition) for the school.

Is it possible to do a double degree or combine it with another study?
Due to the amount of study hours and weekly physical work, a double degree is not possible/ advisable with the BA Dance Performer. As an alternative there are organized projects and lectures with students from other departments like Circus Arts and Music and/or other art academies.

After auditioning, do international students get help with, for example getting insurance, Visa, bank account, housing, etc.?

Prospective students do have to arrange everything themselves, but we provide information after your acceptance to the programme.. For non-Europeans help and guidance is offered for Visa applications. Codarts does not have a campus or our own accommodation for students; students live throughout the city. After acceptance, a document with more information about housing and average monthly costs is provided.
