Rebel Rebel! The future of Rotterdam's jazz scene is happening here and now. In this unique concert, the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra joins forces with the next generation of artists from Codarts. Three finalists of the Erasmus Jazz Prize present their music in an entirely new guise, specially arranged and performed by the orchestra.

Seven brand-new compositions come together in an evening brimming with energy, experimentation and distinctive musical voices - from intimate solos to the full force of a large jazz ensemble.

30 Years of the Erasmus Jazz Prize

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus Jazz Prize, the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra and Codarts have joined forces at the initiative of NRJO artistic director Louk Boudesteijn and Codarts jazz composition lecturer S'Yo Fang. Many current and former Codarts students have gone on to perform with the orchestra, and that connection remains at the heart of this collaboration.

Together with Erasmus Jazz Prize finalists Paco Fernandez, Gabriel Cassaro and Vishal Singh Rebari, the NRJO celebrates a new generation of talent. Original works by these three composers have been specially arranged for the orchestra by selected Codarts students and members of the NRJO. In addition, composition students Linde Tillmanns and Harm Kolen make their debut with new works written especially for this occasion.
