In their evocative programme, Roots, Rhythms, and Resonances: A Journey from the Caucasus to Anatolia, the ensemble explores the rich, unfiltered folk traditions of their native geography.

Spanning the Caucasus, the Black Sea coast, and the heart of Anatolia, this performance bridges East and West. Through the sophisticated language of the contemporary string quartet, the repertoire beautifully highlights historical narratives, migration stories, and raw human emotions.

The programme

The programme unfolds in three powerful chapters:

• Franghiz Ali-Zadeh - Muğamsayağı: A mesmerizing, deeply atmospheric masterpiece that seamlessly fuses the ancient, improvisatory art of Azerbaijani mugham with Western avant-garde techniques.
• Erberk Eryılmaz - Hoppa! 2: An explosion of kinetic energy and unbridled joy inspired by traditional string masters, transporting the spirit of local village celebrations and street weddings directly to the concert stage.
• Oğuzhan Balcı - Karahisar Kalesi: A majestic, emotionally charged epic based on a famous Anatolian folk song, leaving the audience with the enduring, melancholic beauty of the Anatolian spirit.

About Lagom Quartet

Founded in 2021 and based in Ankara, Turkey, the Lagom Quartet consists of four talented chamber musicians from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. Inspired by the Swedish concept of lagom ("balance, moderation, harmony"), the ensemble dedictates itself to balancing classical string quartet repertoire with contemporary music and regional musical voices from the broader Turkic world. As of 2025, they have continued their international artistic development as part of the prestigious Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA).
