Admission requirements Classical Music viola master

General Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A high level of musical affinity with the viola and its repertoire.
  • Strong technical foundations and solid musical skills on the instrument.
  • Clear artistic potential and possibilities for further development.
  • Strong motivation and commitment to advanced study.
     

Viola – Entrance Exam Programme

The audition programme should include:

  • One movement from a J.S. Bach Cello Suite or a J.S. Bach Solo Violin Sonata or Partita.
  • One movement from a viola concerto (for example: Bartók, Walton or Hindemith).
  • One freely chosen piece (which may also be a movement from a sonata).
  • Minimum total duration: 20 minutes.
