Admission requirements jazz guitar
Master
During the audition we focus on your talent.
We do that by:
- Letting you play a repertoire of your choice consisting of at least three songs.
- Improvise by ear over a played chord progression.
- Vision and awareness of own artistic identity.
- Having experience as a performing musician.
What we grade:
- Affinity with the styles you play and with jazz music particular.
- Your ability to improvise and comp.
- Your hearing.
- Your timing, sound, intonation and use of dynamics.
- Your technical level on the instrument.
- Your presentation, and interaction with the music/band.
- If you are able to participate in an educational music programme.
Try to be diverse in your choice, so different tempo, feel, major/minor etc. An original composition/arrangement is appreciated but not obligatory.
Bring good charts for the rhythm section.
The school provides:
- A rhythm section (bass, drums plus optional guitar).
- A guitar amp.
The audition will take 30 minutes including our consultation.
