Admission
To be admitted at the Bachelor Circus Arts at Codarts a specific entrance audition must be passed. Each area of study has its own admission procedure with accompanying selection criteria and supplementary requirements.

The entrance examination for Circus consists of a pre-selection (via offered information and video material) and a second round. This will take place during a live audition in Rotterdam. Throughout the entrance examination you will be observed to see if you possess the necessary talent to successfully complete the study course, you will be assessed according to a number of criteria. Required competencies include artistic expression, technical circus skill, physical abilities, stamina, ability to improvise, team spirit, and learning ability. It is important that you are physically fit.

Step 1: Login and registration
- Studielink: Go to Studielink and register yourself for the bachelor circus programme. More information about how-to register click here.
- After a successful registration via Studielink you will receive an e-mail from Codarts (noreply@codarts.nl) with login details for OSIRIS Application. In some cases, this e-mail can go to your spam box, so please keep an eye on it.

Step 2: OSIRIS Application
After registering in Studielink and logging in to OSIRIS Application, we will ask you to answer a number of questions and to upload a number of documents and videos in OSIRIS:
- Audition application questions
- Motivation letter in English and in PDF format - upload
- Medical statement that allows you to do intense physical training, not older than 3 months and in Dutch/English/German/French - upload
- Picture (head + shoulders, in PDF format, high resolution, vertical) - upload
- Upload two video links to universally used video systems (such as YouTube or Vimeo + publicly watchable)

Step 3: The audition
Audition criteria
During the audition the committee, existing of teachers and experts from the circus field and, acting as chairman, the coordinator of the education, will assess the extent to which the candidates are fit for the education based on the following criteria:
- circus technical qualities;
- physical ability and possibilities;
- physical intelligence;
- theatricality, musicality and dance qualities;
- artistc talent and originality in creating moving material;
- personality in movement and stage presence;
- sensitivity and openness;
- the ability to work with corrections, the endurance and perseverance
There is no strict age criterion for Codarts Circus Arts, as long as the age of the candidate or student does not interfere with the study career. It is recommended to apply before the age of 25.
Programme and content of the audition
The audition takes place in three rounds.
Round 1: Pre-selection for the auditionThe pre-selection consists of the assessments of the videos and requested documents by the coordinator, a team of specialization teachers and minimum one committee member.
After the evaluation meeting of this panel, the selected candidates will be invited by e-mail before 1 March 2025 at the latest.
Second and final selection, spread over five daysCandidates need to be available for all audition days. The final selection consists of several circus classes during five days, a presentation of an individual act (5 min max), an individual screening by the physiotherapist and individual meetings regarding pre-education, motivation, financial matters, etcetera. If so, the rest of the candidates will be informed about the final result at the end of the last day.

Tight fitting clothing in which the physical possibilities are well visible. Warming up clothes. Soft indoor shoes, socks or bare feet. Candidates with a positive outcome of the final selection have to take part in a medical examination, organised by Codarts, that consists of:- physical test;
- a general medical examination
The costs of this medical examination, that will take place at the beginning of the academic year after you are enrolled as a student, are around € 195,00. One part of the health examination will already take place during the audition: during the audition the physiotherapist conducts a short individual assessment (15 minutes per candidate).

Codarts only admits a limited number of circus students. Candidates who have passed the final selection are admissible. If after the selection process there are more suitable candidates than places available, the audition committee can place some candidates on a waiting list.
Candidates who make it through this last selection can be placed and will receive an enrolment package. Candidates who are admissible are requested to let Codarts know within one month at the latest whether they are actually going to take part in the education.
If candidates do not respond in time, Codarts reserves the right to offer the place to a student on the waiting list.Accommodation during the auditions

General information
To enroll at Codarts you should be in possession of a high school diploma (in the UK: BTEC Level 3/GCSE and 2 A-levels/BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/Access to HE diploma/combination of GCSE's and A-levels - in France: Baccalauréat professionnel/ technologique/general - in Germany: abitur diploma/Realschule diploma/Fachhochschulreife diploma), or another certificate of equivalent level, in which the subject packet or the profile is of secondary importance. In special cases the above diploma demands can be set aside. The student-to-be then has the possibility to take a capacity test, to check if there is sufficient general development to be able to follow the study. Note: The fees for this test are charged to the student-to-be.
EXTRA procedural information for solo candidates looking for a partner
Candidates who apply for a partner specialisation, such as hand to hand, duo trapeze or Teeterboard, should apply with the partner(s) needed for this specialisation. However, Codarts offers support for candidates in search of partners by bringing them in contact with each other and offering the use of facilities. If you currently don’t have a partner yet, we ask you to communicate this on the application form (in Osiris) and we recommend to apply as soon as possible.
