Jeroen den Herder

Jeroen den Herder (Zutphen, 1971) is a Dutch cellist. He is cello as main subject teacher at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
Den Herder graduated cum laude with Maria Hol, Dmitri Ferschtman and Christopher Bunting. In 1992 he won the National Postbank Sweelinck Competition and in that same year he was awarded the Zilveren Vriendenkrans from the Vereniging Vrienden van het Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Together with violinist Janine Jansen and Folke Nauta he formed the Rembrandt Trio. For ten years he was the lead of the Cello Octet Conjunto Ibérico. Currently he forms the Ruysdael Quartet together with his former fellow students Joris van Rijn, Emi Ohi Resnick and Gijs Kramers.
Den Herder is the initiator of the biennial International Cell Festival Zutphen. Among his students, among others, is his younger sister Maartje-Maria den Herder.
