Erasmus Jazz Prize

The Erasmus Jazz Prize is the prestigious award for up-and-coming jazz talents. The award was introduced at the time by Codarts (formerly Rotterdam Conservatoire) and the Friends of Codarts Foundation to give young jazz talent a push in the direction of the professional circuit. The award proved to be a great stepping stone for a number of successful young jazz musicians, including Bart Wirtz, Louk Boudesteijn and Stephanie Francke. These former winners are now established names in the Dutch jazz landscape. The Erasmus Jazz Prize is made possible by the Friends of Codarts Foundation and Nedspice.

Erasmus Jazz Prize 2021

On Sunday the 18th of April 2021 at 15:00 hrs we will organize the 25th edition of the Erasmus Jazz Prize, the prestigious award for up-and-coming jazz talents. The finals will be livestreamed from the Eduard Flipse zaal in de Doelen. We will not let this anniversary edition pass by just like that, which is why we will go back in time during the finals! Together with the fantastic trumpet player Jan van Duikeren we look back on the very first edition in 1996 and the extraordinary bass guitarist Rik Kraak takes us to his victory in 2006 and the career that followed after that.

The semi-finals will take place in the Jan Laurens Hartong hall in the WMDC on the 6th and 15th of April at 16:00 hrs. These semi-finals can also be followed through an online livestream.
