Admission procedure Master Jazz, Pop & World Music

To be able to study at Codarts, you must first audition. On this page you will find everything about the admission procedure.

To be admitted to the Master of Music Department of Codarts, you take an entrance exam that consists of several parts.

STEP 1: REGISTER VIA STUDIELINK (CLICK HERE)

  • Register in Studielink.
  • After registration you will receive login details for Osiris Application.
  • Complete the registration in Osiris Application, upload a passport photo, upload your study plan (click here) and your musical cv.
  • Upload (YouTube) links to your music recordings (see Step 2).

Your study plan, musical cv, and links to music recordings can be adjusted in the Osiris Application until 15-02-2022 at the latest at 16.00 hours

STEP 2: MUSIC RECORDINGS FOR ONLINE PORTFOLIO

You need to provide at least 3 (video) recordings (max. 4 minutes per recording) in Osiris Application.

You can upload separate links to these videos in the Osiris Application, for example to YouTube or Vimeo. We advise you to set the link of your videos to ‘hidden’ so they are not visible to the public.

If you only have music recordings, please use SoundCloud, Tidal or Spotify.

Please note: The admission requirements for jazz composition and screen scoring differ from the above requirements. Click here for the admission requirements.

* Please note that we do not accept CDs or DVDs, nor MP3s via email.

STEP 3: INVITATION TO THE AUDITION

Based on your digital portfolio in the Osiris Application, the admission committee decides whether you will be invited for an entrance exam at Codarts. The result of the preselection will be sent to you by the Administrative Service Center (ASC) per email.

The exact audition dates in March 2022 will be published on our website in due time.

STEP 4: THE AUDITION

The content of the online audition reflects the requirements that the training and subsequent professional practice will place on the students. During the audition, your aptitude, knowledge, skills and developmental potential are assessed for the field of study you intend to follow. The audition consists of 2 parts:

Practical part
During your online audition, you have to perform via Zoom. With the exception of the Master Pop, these auditions take place on location.

You are responsible for:

  • being available on the audition days as mentioned on the website.
  • your travels to and stay in Rotterdam.
  • sheet music for the piano accompaniment.

The Interview
An online (via Zoom) interview will take place in which you will discuss your study plan. During this interview your proficiency in speaking English will be assessed.

STEP 5: RESULTS OF THE AUDITION

Together with the admissions committee, the management of the study programme will determine  whether you can be admitted. Codarts has a limited number of study places available, so it may take some time before you finally hear by email whether you have been admitted or not.
