Nominees announced of BNG Bank Circus Prijs

The organisation of Dutch youth circuses Circomundo and BNG Bank’s BNG Cultuurfonds have been awarding the BNG Bank Circus Prize since 2012. The BNG Bank Circus Prize has been awarded in recent years to one of the most talented graduation acts of the circus priogramme Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam or Fontys Academy for Circus and Perfomance Art (ACaPA).

A jury consisting of four people viewed and assessed all graduation acts from the programmes. Based on that, they have nominated four acts. The nominees distinguish themselves by an original, innovative approach to their discipline and excellent technical control. They get the opportunity to further develop their act in the summer months. The nominees will perform on Sunday 20 October during Festival Circolo in Theater de Nieuwe Vorst in Tilburg. After these performances the final winner will be chosen and a check of € 5,000 will be issued.

The four nominees in random order are:
Knot on Hands (Britt Timmermans, Tijs Bastiaens, Mario Kunzi); acrobatics (Codarts Rotterdam)
Erin Skye; Aerial Straps (Codarts Rotterdam)
Cal Courtney; juggling (ACaPA Tilburg)
Julian Vogel; diabolo (ACaPA Tilburg)

The BNG Bank Circus Prize encourages and supports up-and-coming talent, so that they develop further. Previous winners are: Acrobatis quartet Familiar Faces (2017) and David Eisele (diabolo, 2018). They have now earned their spurs in the international circus field.

The jury of the BNG Bank Circus Prize consists of:
Rosa Boon (director of TENT circus theater productions)
Petra Eikelenboom (dramaturge)
Lennie Visser (director Boost Producties)
Marc Eysink Smeets (director Festival Circolo and board member Circomundo)

The BNG Bank Circus Prize will be presented on Sunday 20 October 2019 during Festival Circolo in Tilburg.
