Balance during this month of excess

December is a month of celebration and enjoying life and food. In this month we usually eat and drink more than normal and often food and beverages containing lots of calories, bad fats, sugar and alcohol.

To compensate, here are two tips to balance this month of excess and enjoy a fresh and healthy start of your day!

Lemon Water

Start your day with 1 or 2 glasses of water, adding juice of half a lemon for an extra vitamin C boost! Wait at least 15 min before continuing breakfast.

Detoxifying Kale Juice

Serves one
This juice is a light, nutritious and invigorating breakfast. Kale is full of fibre, calcium and antioxidants. When juiced with a bit of lemon, apple, ginger and some mint, it turns into a super refreshing and delicious drink. A perfect start of the day! Don’t worry if you don’t have a juicer: a blender will also do the trick.

Ingredients

  • 5 large leaves of kale, ribs discarded, leaves roughly chopped
  • 1 lemon, zest and pith removed
  • 1 large apple, roughly chopped
  • A 2.5cm piece of fresh ginger
  • Small handful of fresh mint
  • (120 ml of water)

Directions

Push all the ingredients through your juicer (exept the water). Alternatively, you can chop all the ingredients and pop them into a powerful blender with 120ml of water, then pass the mixture through a strainer. Drink immediately.
