Covenant training young dance talent
Codarts, University for the Arts, the Dans Vakopleiding Maastricht (VDM) and the Foundation DanZee have signed a covenant on Friday, November 6. The three organisations agree to find young dance talent together and prepare them for a career in professional practice. They also ask attention for the need of the existence of proper professional training for all ages in order to make more children dance.
To arrive as a Dutch talent at the top of the international dance, it is essential to start vocational training at an early age. In many provinces the professional dance training is getting in a vulnerable position due to the pressure of the predicted decline in student numbers, the aging population and increasing desertification. Codarts, VDM and DanZee find it important to combine forces and give talents the opportunity to follow professional dance training.
The cooperation of the three organizations is focused on scouting. Codarts / the Rotterdam Dance Academy, VDM and DanZee cast their scouting activities to each other and extend it further. Furthermore, they also focus on professionalizing talent development. The supervision of young dancers will be strengthened through the exchange of teachers and the organizing of joint performances. Finally attention is paid to improving the image of dance and to interest more young Dutch children / talents enthusiasm in dance.
The agreement is signed on Friday, November 6 at the town hall in Maastricht.
