
Paul van Brugge in NFF
During the Netherlands Film Festival 2009, four films will be premiered, for which Paul van Brugge – main subject composition teacher – composed the film music:
- Alles stroomt / Upstream
- Atlantis
- Beyond the Game
- Tramontana (opening film at NFF 2009)
The Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) is taking place from 23 September to 2 October in Utrecht. In the Main Programme the NFF is showing a selection of the best Dutch feature films, documentaries, short films and TV dramas which were made the year before. Many of these productions are having their premiere during the festival.

Paul M. van Brugge
Paul Michael van Brugge was born on 19 April 1959 in Rotterdam. From 1993 he studied Composition at Rotterdam Conservatoire with Bob Brookmeyer and Klaas de Vries. He graduated from this study with honours in 1996. Since 1993 he has been writing music for performance on assignment from various ensembles. He has composed a variety of works for the Doelenensemble, Holland Symfonia and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, among others. In 2005 his first chamber opera, Song for Cassandra, was performed. Since 1997 he has worked as main subject teacher for composition/arranging at Rotterdam Conservatoire.
In addition, he is a composer of film music. In 2003 Brugge was nominated for a Golden Calf in the best music category for his score of Go West, Young Man! In 2004 he received the Silver Condor from the Society of Argentinian Film Critics for the score of Valentin and in 2005 he was awarded a Golden Calf for the music of the documentary Alias Kurban Saïd.
