turkish music - the programme

At the Rotterdam Academy for World Music, part of Rotterdam Conservatoire, the renewed Turkish music programme started in September 2006.

The main subject of this bachelor music programme is geared towards the most important modern Turkish instrument: the baglama also called the saz. Besides that the main subject also gives attentionj to the song texts. Other components in this curriculum are percussion lessons (with for example darbuka), Ottoman music, Turkish and Western music theory and ensemble lessons. For sidesubjects students can choose from other music programmes of the Rotterdam Academy for World Music and the Rotterdam Jazz Academy and the Rotterdam Academy for Classical Music.
