the programme

The Argentinean tango study programme focuses on technique and interpretation. There are also master classes hosted by internationally renowned specialists that make up an important part of the education programme.

You receive intensive training in playing the tango, the milonga cuidadana (the urban milonga), the milonga campera (the rural milonga), the candombe and the vals criollo. During the theoretical subjects, considerable attention will be devoted to transcriptions, melodic and rhythmic analysis and arranging.

The heart of the tango study programme is formed by the tango orchestra OTRA (Orquesta Tanguera de Rotterdam Integrada por Alumnos) and the Tango Orchestra Class. The Tango Orchestra Class is meant for all instrumentalists with the exception of guitarists. For them the guitar ensemble ‘Guitarras Porteñas’ forms the focal point of the study programme.
